Happy Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day!
Unfortunately, I am down with cold, but my husband gave me some flowers and cookies, which cheered me up.
Some of you may know already, in Japan, this is a day that ladies give chocolates to her husbands or lovers. They even feel obligated to buy chocolates to their bosses and colleagues, and those chocolates are called "obligation chocolates". What a great business promotion!
Moreover, there is a day called "white day", which falls onto March 14th, when guys have to return the lady of his desire with more expensive gifts. I think there would be many happy men today if America can adopt this particular tradition. (many happy "businessmen" as well.)
Thinking back, I have never given Valentine chocolates to any guys....., not even an "obligation chocolate".
I must say that I prefer the tradition here much better. I'd rather see men carrying flower bouquets in town than girls desperately flocking to chocolate vendors in department stores.
