新居、最後の詰めに入っています／ Heading Into The Final Stage

ドイツのシステムキッチンの施工が終わり、床の石板も敷き終えられました。
眺めの良いキッチンです。

The Bulthaup kitchens are in and the stone floor is done.The kitchen has a great view.
















まだ、ドアを取り付けたり電気のスイッチを設置したり、細かいところが残っているようです。

There are still a list of things to be installed and finished, like doors and switches.














ところどころ、天井にも杉材を張ったようで、夫は出来栄えにご満悦です。
設計者には、自分のデザインが現実になるのが、よほど嬉しいものと思われます。

My husband is very pleased with the cedar ceiling above the dining area.He is quite happy with the way the house has turned out overall.
















地下室で材木を切断するロブさん。
ロブさんには、パインバレーの家の増築の時からお世話になっています。
パインバレーのコッテージもソーラーパネルもグラスハウスも、ファームのコッテージもロッジもサラミ工場も、すべてロブさんの手によるものです。
娘はまだ小さく、シンバも赤ちゃんの頃からのお付き合い。

Rob, the contractor/carpenter, is cutting thick wood to make the stairs in the basement.He has done all our building jobs since we moved to New Zealand. He has known Simba since he was a puppy.
















電気の配線に余念のない電気屋さん。
ニュージーランドの人は、冬でも半パン。

An electrician is working on the circuit board.New Zealanders wear short pants even in the middle of winter.
















外で石を切る作業をしているのは、中国人の職人さん。
雨が降ったりするのに、ご苦労なことです。

A Chinese stone mason is cutting the stone for the entry steps.
















逆光でしたが、グラスハウスも、ほぼガラスが入っていました。
このあと、全体に石板を敷いて、パティオにするのですが、面積が広いから大変そう。

The glasshouse has almost all the glass set in.They will soon start setting the stones on the floor and the wide patio around it.















雨の合間を縫って、お友達と待ち合わせ、オークランドにお買い物に出ました。
ランチは、前にも一度ご紹介した "& Sushi" で。

We went to Auckland to shop when it wasn't so rainy. We had lunch at "& Sushi".

綺麗なだけではなく、とても美味しいのです。
前よりもさらに美味しくなってる気がしました。
韓国系の人の経営だと思いますが、大人気で、お昼過ぎにはもう売り切れてしまいます。

Their sushi is not only pretty but also tasty. It is very popular, particularly among young people.














小さなカジュアルなお店なのですが、大きくて豪華な蘭のお花が活けられていました。

The large orchids that decorated the restaurant's tables were gorgeous.



















うちでは今、コブシの花が満開です。
日本が原産の花なのだそうですね。
夕陽を浴びて、とても綺麗でした。

Back at home in my garden, Magnolia Kobus flowers are in bloom. I heard this is a species of Magnolia which is native to Japan. I love the ever so faint pink color of the petal. It looks pretty under the rays of sunset.

初冬のニュージーランド、寒くない／ Early Winter at Shelly Beach, 2019

ニュージーランドに戻って２日経ちますが、降ったり止んだりのお天気。
雨不足だったので、恵みのお湿りです。

It's been rainy since we came back to New Zealand.We cannot complain because we definitely needed rain.














雨が降るとすぐに出てくるシダ。
ニュージーランドの森にはシダがいっぱい。

Baby ferns have started to grow everywhere in our forest as soon as the ground got moist.














シンバ、娘とは感動的な９ヶ月ぶりの再会。
一緒のベッドに寝かせてもらって、大喜びです。

Simba was ecstatic when he saw my daughter.Now they are inseparable♡














パパへのお土産を組み立てるお嬢。
実は、ものすごく遅れた私からのお誕生日プレゼントなのですが。

It's nice to see her at home lounging and relaxing.














家の方も、だいぶ内装が整っていました。
娘は初めて見るので、興奮していました。

The house is looking more done.














なんだか日本的なドアも。
日本人の大工さんが作ったそうです。

Some doors were made by a Japanese carpenter and looked very Japanese.














地下室は、ちょっと牢獄のようですが、なかなか便利そうなスペースです。


My daughter liked the basement space.


















まだまだ、壁やら床やら、先は長そう。
８月に引っ越しできますように。
空手とボクシングで鍛えた、娘の腕力を生かしたい！

Hopefully it will be done by early August. We want to utilize the muscle power of our daughter who's been training boxing and karate!















さて、前回は、初めての機内からの投稿で、朝食を食べながら観た映画のことだけ書きましたが、就寝前にはこんな映画も観ました。
今年のアカデミー賞でオリヴィア・コールマンが主演女優賞を獲った、"The Favourite"（邦題『女王陛下のお気に入り』）。

On my last flight, I also watched Yorgos Lanthimos' "The Favourite." (I mean, besides "2001 Space Odyssey," which I wrote about in my last post)














ギリシャ人の鬼才監督、ヨルゴス・ランティモスの映画で、ヨーロッパではもっとたくさんの賞を獲ったみたいですネ。
魚眼レンズを其処此処に使い、英国の有名なお城やオックスフォード大の図書館などでロケして、女優三人を主人公にした異色の映画です。
インテリアと衣装だけでも観る甲斐のある映画。

It was overall a very interesting movie with real castle locations and spectacular interiors, gorgeous costumes, superb acting and sound tracks.I also liked the fact that the movie's main characters were all women for a change.












主演のオリヴィア・コールマンはもちろんのこと、エマ・ストーンとレイチェル・ワイズも熱演で、目の離せない映画でした。

The story is based on the real history of 18th century British court where these three women were locked in a power triangle.













この三人の女性が権力に愛欲を混ぜ込んで大格闘。
かなりオリジナルな解釈をした時代モノですが、実際にこの三人が三つ巴になったことは確からしいです。
愛欲があったのかどうかは不明ですが。
英国王室もイロイロあったのですねぇ〜

The movie itself is not an accurate historical account but a depiction of human drama using this interesting piece of English history. With many fun surprises in every direction, it's quite an entertaining movie.

石材が到着しました／ The Stone Has Arrived

夫は新居の建築のことしかアタマにない。
ファーマーぶって長靴履いていても、やっぱり餅は餅屋というヤツかしら…（ちょっと例えが違う？）
断熱材が壁や天井に入り、いよいよ内装の準備をしなければならないようで、忙しそうです。

My husband is getting excited about the house which now has insulation in its walls and ceilings.

そうこうしているうちに、昨年暮れに中国で注文してきた石材がコンテナで届きました。
まぁ、遠いところから、大海越えてどんぶらしょと来たのね。

The stone we ordered in China in November arrived in containers the other day.














夫がくれた写真ですから変ですけれど…

やけにたくさん有るなと思ったら、温室とそのコートヤードに使う石材も含まれているからとのこと。
荷物の向こう側に整地されている土地に、温室が建ちます。

So many crates.We are using stone for the floor of the house and the glass house, as well as the courtyard.













手前のはバスタブですが、どうも夫は気に入らなかったようで、これには金魚でも入れて、別のタブを探すとか。

The glass house will be built on the leveled area in the above photo.















この日は現場横からの夕暮れが綺麗でした。

その翌日、こちらはシェリービーチの埠頭の夕暮れ。
赤い漁船が、その日の仕事を終えて帰って来ました。
何を釣ってきたんだろう。

This is at the Shelly Beach when we walked Simba the next day.The red fishing boat had just come back from the day's work.














かなりの遠浅。牽引する車がバックでどんどん水に入って行く。















今日も居ました、カモメちゃん。
いつものスポット。
電灯の上って暖かなのかナ。

There is always a seagull sitting on the lamp.It must be the top spot because of its warmth.















その夜は、お月様が大きくて、綺麗でした。
水面に映った月がチーズに見えて、懸命に取ろうとしたアヒルのお話、思い出しました。

ジャム、プリザーブ、コンポート／ Making Jams and Preserves

桃のコンポートを作って、瓶詰めにしました。
ふた瓶作って、一つはご近所に。

I made peach compote the other day and canned (bottled) it.Peaches are almost over now.














こちらは、夫が１月に作ったスモモのブリザーブの瓶詰めです。
なんと、９瓶も作成。
初めて作ったにしては、頑張りましたよね。
瓶を煮沸するのに大格闘して、少しヤケドまでしたそうです。お気の毒…

The red ones are the plum preserves my husband made.He made 9 bottles.He did very well as an absolute beginner of making preserves.


















そして、昨夜、私はイチジクをジクジクと煮立ててジャムに。
良い香りが家中に漂って、幸せな気分になりました。
レシピは簡単。
お砂糖を適量、塩をちょっぴり入れ、最後にとても酸っぱいニュージーランドのカボスを絞り入れただけ。


Last night, I cooked fig jam.The sweet fragrance which had filled my kitchen was wonderful.Besides sugar, I put a tiny bit of salt and squeezed bitter lemon in the end.















一瓶と半分できたので、もう今朝からトーストに乗せ、美味しく頂いています。
日曜日には、内部がスカーレット色の『カドタ・フィグ』を採りに行く予定なので、それにルバーブと生姜を足し入れて、鮮やかな紅色のイチジクジャムを作る予定。
イチジク、大好きな果物です。

We enjoyed it on English muffins this morning.Soon Kadota figs (the one which has very red meat) will mature, which I want to cook with rhubarb and ginger.














シンバとトレールを散歩した後、バスハウスの方から新居を臨んだところ。

After a trail walk, we came out behind the Bath Center. This is the view of the new house from there.














こんな風な角度で見えるとは知りませんでした。















大工さんて、ホント、すごいですよね！
どうしてこんなややこしいものが作れるんダ。

I'm really impressed by carpenters.How do they know how to make such a complicated thing like this with all the wiring and pipes.














水道から電気から、すべて考えて配管／配線しなくちゃいけない訳でしょ。
そりゃあ、図面に出てるんでしょうが…
建築家は紙に描くだけだからいいけれども、実際造る人はすごいと思う。

I'm sure it's all in the drawing, but still…This is way more complicated than the plastic model airplanes that my brother used to make.














なんとなく出来た時の感じが想像できるようになってきました。
８月に引っ越せるかどうか、バドさんと夫はベイリーをひとケース賭けてるんだとか。

I now started to be able to imagine what it would be like when it's all done.

ニュージーランドから、夫が送ってきた写真です。
このボロ屋を買ったのだそうです。
手前で働いているのは、うちの大工さんです。

My husband sent me this photo saying that he bought this miserable looking shack.("miserable" is the adjective I added. My husband thinks it's beautiful)Rob, our carpenter, is getting it ready to be lifted up and moved.

















これを分解し、

トラックに乗せて、ファームまで運んできました。
２０分くらい離れた街から運んできました。
夫の写真は、どうしてこう上がチョン切れているのかな…

Secured onto a truck, it was moved from Helensville to our farm in Shelly Beach, a 20 minute drive.(I don't know why my husband's photos always have their tops cut off…)





















２回に分けて運んだようですね。
牧場長のバドさんも、眺めています。

大草原の小さな家、みたいな感じ。
でも、とりあえずここに置いただけで、翌日、目的の場所に移したようです。

It looks great at this location, but there is the foundation already worked on for it at another spot.

















翌日は、あまりお天気が良くなかったようですが、ここが目的の場所。
杭の上に平らに乗せられます。
これが、野外バスルームになります。
景色に向かった壁は取り除き、バスタブに入りながら景色が眺められるようにする予定。
サウナも設えるんだそうです〜

The next day, they moved it to the spot. I don't know how they did it.You can see the pillars set for the foundation on which the shack to sit facing the bay.This is going to become our Bath Center with View.The wall towards the view will be taken out and 2 bath tubs will be set so that the bathers can enjoy the full view of the farm and bay.We are planning to build a sauna in it as well.

日本の旅、その４、沼津倶楽部／ Japan Trip 4, Numazu Club

渥美半島を１１時ごろに出、海岸線道路と旧東名を通りながら、沼津に着きました。
沼津インターを降りてからの景色が、またしてもあまり美しくなかったので、今度こそ失敗だよと家族から責められながら、海岸近くまで。
すると、いきなり景色が変わって別荘地の様相。
目的の沼津倶楽部に到着しました。

We left Izutsuro around 11 AM, and took the coastal road and Tomei Highway to reach our next destination, Numazu Club in Shizuoka pref.

























細長い写真２枚はお借りしたのですが、和洋折衷の建築とお庭が素晴らしいのです。
嬉しい驚きで、すっかり写真を撮らず。（またか…）

Beautiful architecture.The way they combined the authentic Japanese architecture (Sukiya Zukuri) and the modern addition was absolutely stunning.


















夫も、デザインと仕上げのタイトさに感心。

こちらは女性用の露天風呂。
スパも素晴らしくて、岩盤浴もとろけるように気持ちよかった。

This is the outside bath for ladies.There was also a complete spa with sauna, massage room, outside stone bath, and bedrock bath.


















お夕飯には、数寄屋造りの母屋のお部屋へ通されました。
純和室に白いリネンのかかったテーブルと背の高い椅子が用意されていて、明治時代にワープしたようでした。
さすが国の有形文化財。

Then, we were shown into a beautiful room in the Japanese house for dinner.






















娘と夫は、これを少し怖がっていたようですが、美味しそうに食べる私を見てダイヴイン。
すごく美味しいって、目をくるくるさせて驚いていました。
さすが海の近くですね。

The appetizer.Everything was so seasonal and fresh.






























言葉はいらないですね。
目にも舌にも美味しく、写真たくさん撮り忘れました
もち豚ローストなんて、とろけるように美味でしたが、全員食べることに熱中してしまって…
シェフはどなたかと尋ねると、那須の二期倶楽部の料理長をしていた方だとのことでした。


サーバーは、ヨーロッパの高級レストランのウェイターを思わせる、黒いスーツとボウタイを着こなされたご年配。
とてもプロフェッショナルな、それでいて心優しいおもてなしでした。
常にお部屋の影の部分に立たれて、まるでバトラーのよう。
お話を伺うと、フランス料理畠をずっと歩いてこられたとかでしたが、和食の奥の深さに、勉強が楽しいと仰っていました。

Numazu is famous for its seafood, and this 8 course dinner represented perfectly what this coastal town can offer.There was a beautiful roast pork towards the end, which was exceptional.It was definitely the best pork I ever had.Throughout the dinner, a tall elderly gentleman in a black suit and a bowtie served us in the most professional manner but also with kindness.He said he worked in French restaurants throughout his career, but now he is enjoying to learn about traditional Japanese cuisine.

翌日の朝ごはんのあと、母屋を案内していただきました。
ここは、ミツワ石鹸二代目社長が明治末期に建てた別邸だったのだそうです。

The next morning, after another wonderful meal, we were shown the inside of the main house.It was built by a well known businessman in 1907 as a teahouse and guestroom complex.























どのお部屋でもお茶席が持てるように、水周りの設えがありました。
建てられた方は、よほどお茶がお好きだったんですね。
You can enjoy the view of the mature garden from every room.

隅々にまで意匠が凝らされ、素晴らしい日本建築です。

Attention has been paid to every corner of this house.


















そして、この居間で、食後のお茶とお菓子をいただきました。
なんと、このお部屋は、昭和憲法が草案されたお部屋なんだそうです。

And in this room, we had our tea and sweets.We were told that Japanese constitution was drafted in this room before the WW2.





















以下、沼津倶楽部のサイトからの引用です。
沼津倶楽部和館は、１９０７年（明治４０年）、当代随一と言われた江戸幕府小普請方大工棟梁の柏木家十代目・柏木祐三郎の手により、ミツワ石鹸二代目社長・三輪善兵衛の別邸「岩松亭」として造られた数寄屋造りの美しい建物です。室内は全室が茶室となるよう設計され、千人茶会なども企画されたと言われています。老朽化が進んでいたこの建物は平成１８年に改修され、現在はレストランやライブラリーとして利用されています。２０１４年１１月、その歴史的・美術的な価値が評価され、国の有形文化財に登録されました。　

The town of Numazu was completely burnt down during the war, but somehow this building had escaped the bombardment and survived. The Japanese government used this house time to time to have conferences to rebuild the country.The house was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property in 2014.

















パーティーの用意が始まっていたダイニングルーム。
まったく素晴らしいステイでした。
心からオススメできますね、ここは。

As we were leaving, they were busy getting ready for a large dinner that night. We can fulheartedly recommend this amazing retreat.
